How I Stopped Chasing Productivity and Started Chasing Presence
Productivity is addictive. But chasing it creates a life that's busy and empty. Presence is what actually matters. Here's how I made the shift.
The Productivity Addiction
I was addicted to productivity. More tasks completed. Longer to-do lists. More hours worked. The high was checking things off.
But I was alone in my achievement. My relationships were surface. My work was scattered. I was productive and empty.
Part 1: The Productivity Illusion
Productivity measures output. But output isn't meaning. You can be extremely productive at meaningless things.
The illusion: more productivity will create happiness. But happiness comes from presence, connection, and alignment.
Part 2: Presence as the Real Metric
Presence: being actually here. With full attention. With your whole self.
When you're present, productivity is less important. You're focused on one thing. The output follows naturally.
Part 3: The Shift
I stopped tracking completed tasks. Started tracking: How present was I today? Did I give my full attention to what mattered?
These are harder to measure. But they're the real metrics.
Closing
Chase presence, not productivity. The productivity will follow.
